Magill’s Medical Guide
Posted by sachref on June 24, 2008
Access to this database should work in the library. The remote access is not yet working, so anyone at home, clicking on the new homepage icon will find themselves frustrated. This is being worked on, but it’s not clear when remote access will be available.

Re: Damaged Literary Criticism Books
Posted by sachref on June 24, 2008
FYI
Stacey and I went through the Lit. Crit. books today, identified the volumes that are in the worst shape and have ordered new copies. The early CLCs are in the saddest condition, so we spent most of the money there.

Problems with Library Accounts
Posted by sachref on June 23, 2008
(UPDATE: THESE ISSUES SEEM TO HAVE BEEN FIXED)
Yesterday, a patron emailed about his inability to place a freeze on request list items. Renee and myself were able to reproduce this problem. I have also just learned that I cannot CANCEL an item that’s on my hold list, no matter how many times I attempt it.
Please be advised that patrons will probably be unable to make these changes in their account.

Changes to the WebOPAC
Posted by sachref on June 19, 2008
Along with our update on Wednesday to Innovative’s Millennium Release 2007 come some improvements (we hope) to the OPAC. These improvements include:
- A new My Millennium feature, My List, will be added as a complement to Reading History. As Reading History can track what you’ve checked out, My List can be used to keep track of what you are considering checking out. (WebPAC Pro ONLY)
- A warning will be provided above the list of checked out material as well as by the individual affected records when a renewal fails.
- It will be possible for patrons with a current email address in their patron record to recover a lost PIN number through a standard “Forgot your password?” function.
For the last one to be of any help to our patrons, we need to get them to add e-mail addresses to their patron records. But don’t forget that once they add an e-mail address to their patron record, all of their notices (reserves, overdues, and courtesy) will automatically be sent via e-mail — they will NO LONGER receive phone calls. Any questions, please ask me. — Denise

Remember that tomorrow we will have no access AT ALL to Millennium (which, of course, includes the catalog) . This includes patrons trying to access the catalog from home. LMK

Magill’s Medical Guide Online
Posted by sachref on June 16, 2008
As of today, Monday, June 16, the link to Magill’s Medical Guide online from our website is active. The link from the homepage requires barcode and PIN authentication, but you can go directly to the product at health.salempress.com and it will authenticate by IP address automatically from in the building. That is not the case from a remote location, remotely you must follow the authentication link in order to access the product.
Let Alan know if you experience any difficulties with this product. (It does take some time to authenicate and load, so be patient.)
