Whoops! F.C.C. Chairman Spams Facebook Friends

Facebook scam artists have closed out 2009 by snagging a prominent victim: Julius Genachowski, chairman of the Federal Communications Commission.

On Thursday at around 10:30 a.m., Mr. Genachowski sent his Facebook friends this puzzling message: “Adam got me started making money with this.” It was followed by a link to a Web page that is no longer active. The message blitz indicated that Mr. Genachowski’s account had been taken over by a malicious program that was using it to send out spam.

I thought everyone had already heard of the comic strip “Unshelved” by Bill Barnes and Gene Ambaum, but I discovered I was mistaken.  Take a peek at it on their home page:

You can subscribe and receive it daily in your e-mail, or even purchase a compilation book of older strips.  It’s a comic strip about libraries and librarians and it can be really funny and definitely on-point.  Take a peek.

144 yrs, not longest overdue book?

“According to a press release from the university, the book was removed from the library by a Union soldier named C.S. Gates on June 11, 1864, when the institution, then known as Washington College, was looted by the Union Army…missing for more than 100 years, but a volume checked out of the Harvard College library and returned in 1997 was more than 233 years overdue when it was finally returned.”   Full Story
