REQUIRES – Free download of Mobipocket Reader for Mobipocket ebooks
 
Primary support is for PC compatible computer and WMA supported portable media players
*Macintosh supported with “Overdrive Media Console” for Mac
*IPOD supported via MP3 format audiobooks.  Also, most wma audiobooks can be transferred to Windows formatted ipod/iphone with built in transfer wizard in the “Overdrive Media Console 3.2” for Windows.
 
IMPORTANT NOTES:
  1. Suffolk wave requires the software download to get anything.
  2. Not everything is available at all times.  There are waiting lists for most titles, while some public domain titles are always available.
  3. People will be contacted by email when their reserved item becomes available.
  4. Patrons have the option to select different lending periods on a title by title basis of 7 or 14 days for audiobooks and ebooks.  Music and Videos have 3, 5 or 7 day options.
  5. Limit of 5 items checked out at any one time.

Requires No free software download for web based access to audiobooks, but…
Requires Download of NETLIBRARY MEDIA CENTER for 1 click downloads, more streamlined viewing experience, automated ipod transfer of mp3s
 
Primary support is for PC and WMA supported portable media players
Ipod/Iphone are supported via MP3 downloads
 
IMPORTANT NOTES:
  1. All items are either WMA or MP3 format.
  2. All items are always available to all patrons.
  3. Limit of 10 items checked out at any one time.
  4. To limit to mp3 only, do Advance Search, select eaudiobooks and choose Mp3 for Format (762 mp3s currently from total of 2285 total audiobooks)
Glossary:
WMA – Windows Media Audio (A format for audio data, invented and supported by Windows, they are smaller than mp3s at the same level of quality)
MP3 – An audio file format that has no security or DRM (digital rights management), so it can be played on any device, pc, mac, ipod, zune, etc.
PDF – Portable Document Format.  Created by Adobe, to allow for the preservation of size, fonts, table and spacing for printing.
